The easiest way is to use a water hose or a pressure washer. A pressure washer is effective at removing dirt but be careful not to hold the nozzle too close to the wood as it will damage the surface of the wood if the pressure is too strong.
If you clean every season, it shouldn’t take too long. If the trolley is not too dirty, you can wash it with soap and water. Another option is to wash with water and lye by hand with a brush. There are also special cleaning products available in DIY stores that are specifically designed for cleaning wood.
Start by scrubbing the deck with a proper scrub brush, yellow or green soap and warm water. Let the deck dry in the spring heat. Then mix vinegar and water – or use a pre-mixed weed killer – and apply it to the deck.
